Lyrics

Let us Hangman play,
While away those days,
During banking time,
Met a fellow clerk,
Life evolved from work,
Into the strongest of ties.

Left the Victory,
Life less ordinary,
On that day in June,
Punched through century's end,
Down to up and mend,
And took on the world and won.

Bombay Sapphire gin,
With that flawless grin,
The only blue within,
Then a friendly boo,
For the boys, Les Blues,
Cheer the Roses on again.

The King is still here,
Singing with a tear,
'You're Always On My Mind',
Saw him in Graceland,
With his heart in hand,
Rehearsing for one last time.

No day travels by,
You're not in our minds,
Those days tumble on,
Drove one man to run,
One score marathons,
Your memory lives on and on.

Your memory lives on and on...

Notes

As part of the Phantom Islands album, this song explores a theme based on the name of an island that once appeared on old maps but has now been proven not to exist.

Bermeja purportedly existed to the north of Mexico but has since disappeared, likely due to geological or oceanographic reasons (see this Wikipedia article). Bermeja simply represents someone who was there and is there no longer.

Specifically, this song is dedicated to my good friend Sharon, who died of cancer in 2015, and to her surviving husband Steve.

For Sharon Holder: 1969 - 2015
